우리 몸은 임신을 하게 되면 여러 가지 신호를 통해 임신 사실을 알려 줘요.

가장 먼저 임신했음을 알려 주는 것은 월경이에요. 임신이 되면 월경을 하지 않거든요. 배란이 된 난자가 정자를 만나지 못하면 임신을 대비하여 두꺼워진 자궁내벽의 영양분이 떨어져 몸 밖으로 나오는 것이 월경이라고 했지요? 임신을 하면 이 자궁내벽의 영양분이 수정란을 보호해 주는 역할을 하기 때문에 떨어지지 않고 그대로 있어요. 그래서 월경을 하지 않으면 가장 먼저 임신을 떠올리는 것이지요.

임신의 또다른 증상은 입덧이에요. 가끔 드라마에서 여자가 밥을 먹다가 화장실로 뛰어가 구역질을 하는 장면을 본 적이 있을 거예요. 바로 입덧을 하는 거예요. 임신 초기에 하는 입덧은 전체 임신부의 70~85%정도에게 나타나지요.

임신을 하게 되면 냄새에 민감해져서 입덧을 해요. 보통 임신 9주 정도에 시작되어 임신 11~13주에 가장 심해지며, 대부분 14~16주면 사라지지요. 하지만 20~22주 이후까지 지속되는 경우도 있어요.

어떤 사람들은 임신 중에도 입덧을 하지 않고, 평소보다 식욕이 더 좋아져서 이것저것 먹고 싶은 음식이 생기기도 해요.

임신을 하면 배가 아프기도 하고, 월경은 아니지만 질에서 소량의 피가 나오는 경우도 있어요. 이것을 착상혈이라고 해요. 이 또한 사람마다 차이가 있어 모든 사람이 착상혈을 보게 되는 것은 아니랍니다.

그 밖에도 속이 메스껍고 머리가 어지럽기도 해요. 또 열이 나거나 감정 기복이 심해지기도 하지요.

사람마다 임신에 따른 증상이 다르기 때문에 임신이 의심된다면 산부인과를 방문하여 확인해 보는 것이 가장 좋아요.
